Help! My baby isn’t a Newborn have I missed my chance? Not at all, we’re all about photographing older babies too!
Here at Studio Bambino we often are approached by parents who for reasons varying from a traumatic birth, sleepless nights, cultural reasons or just never getting round to booking in for a Newborn shoot. We know these things happen and days with a Newborn can fly by and before you know it your little one is 6 weeks and you may feel you have missed out.
Am I too late?
On our webpage, we quite clearly have a page for Newborn photographer and also for sitter photography (aged around 6 – 8 months) and this can lead our customers to wrongly infer we don’t offer anything in between when the truth is we are happy to photograph your baby at any age and we can create images to treasure for a lifetime no matter what stage your little one is at.
Recently due to COVID I have spent weeks and weeks photographing older babies who weren’t able to come to their Newborn shoot as planned.
Are there any benefits to photographing an older baby?
In fact, there are many benefits to having your baby photographed a few weeks later than a Newborn shoot. For some, they love the typical posed Newborn portraits which generally require baby to be asleep, for others they prefer portraits that capture their babies wide awake, if you fall into the latter category a shoot after baby is 6 weeks old brings gurgles and smiles and wide awake portraits enabling my creativity to flourish. Older baby shoots are different from Newborn shoots, but different doesn’t mean they aren’t as good it just means we are opened up to a different range of possibilities for your photographs.
From the gorgeous Gracie May who at 12 weeks was wide away and this enabled us to capture her beautiful blue eyes in all their beauty. The Inquisitive Jude who at 16 weeks had just started to lift his head up and enjoy some tummy time producing delightful images. Little Ivor, 13 weeks, whose cheeky grin stole my heart. And little Esme who despite being 10 weeks old we were still able to capture some of the more traditional Newborn wrapped posed images. There is also the opportunity to capture some beautiful interactions between family members and slightly older babies as can be seen here with 10 week old Willow and her mummy.
You (and they) are also more likely to be in some form of routine, making it easier for you to schedule in a visit at a time which most suits you.
